When using OpenAI, please note that you will incur additional costs from OpenAI which depends on how often MESA interacts with OpenAI in a single automation run. Each model has its own different capabilities and price points. You can review OpenAI’s pricing here. If you do not wish to incur additional OpenAI costs, you can use AI by MESA app as an alternative. Please note that AI by MESA app is a premium app which is double the fun and double the automation. If you are still using MESA's OpenAI Prompt action, we recommend using ChatGPT's Create Chat Completion action instead since OpenAI will no longer update its prompts feature.

Connect OpenAI with MESA

When you're setting up your first workflow with OpenAI, you'll need to create an OpenAI API Key.

To create an API Key, go to this url: https://platform.openai.com/account/api-keys. Once there, click on the Create new secret key button**.**

Then, click on the copy button in the API key generated modal. Paste the copied values into MESA's OpenAI Account Credentials API Key field.

Lastly, click on Add Credential and then you are all set! MESA is now connected with OpenAI.

As ChatGPT is not our product, we would like to note that we are not responsible for its output. We recommend visiting the ChatGPT website and attempt to replicate your preferred prompt using the CHATGPT UI to verify that it meets your expectation before trying to automate it with MESA.

How OpenAI uses your data

The OpenAI app makes API calls to OpenAI. Only the variables explicitly configured in the MESA builder will be shared with OpenAI. MESA does not store any of this information beyond your data retention date. OpenAI does not use data submitted to and generated by their API to train OpenAI models or improve OpenAI's service offering.

To opt out of any data sharing with AI models, simply do not use the OpenAI step in any of your workflows.

Troubleshooting errors

Errors can occur for various reasons. We've compiled the most common errors and ways to resolve them:

Error: 429 Insufficient Quota: You have exceeded your current OpenAI's quota. What does this error mean? You have surpassed the usage limits set for your OpenAI account. Solution: Upgrade your OpenAI plan to increase your usage. You can also swap out the OpenAI connector for AI by MESA.
