Billing Frequently Asked Questions

What is an automation run?

Each time your workflow is triggered, e.g. starts, it counts as one automation. This applies regardless of whether your workflow has one or twenty actions; it will always be counted as a single automation.

What is a workflow?

A workflow connects your apps and services, allowing them to work together. Each workflow consists of a trigger and one or more actions. When you turn on your workflow, MESA will automatically carry out the sequence of steps on your behalf.

What happens if I reach my plan’s automation limit?

**Starter plan:** If you reach your plan’s 500 automation limit, your active workflows will stop running until you upgrade your plan or until your monthly automation allotment rolls over.

**Flex plan:** If you reach your plan’s 5,000 automation limit, your workflows will continue to run as expected but each additional automation will incur a $0.015 charge until you upgrade your plan or until your monthly automation allotment rolls over.

**Advanced plan:** If you reach your plan’s 10,000 automation limit, your workflows will continue to run as expected but each additional automation will incur a $0.01 charge until you upgrade your plan or until your monthly automation allotment rolls over.

Consider the **Unlimited plan** with unlimited automations if your automations fluctuate each month or if you prefer not to deal with overages.

Does Time Travel count towards my monthly automation limit?

No, running a Time Travel will not count towards your plan's automation limit. We understand the importance of ensuring that your historical data matches your future data. Therefore, such automations are provided to you at no additional cost.

Can I downgrade my plan?

You can change your plan at any time during the billing period from the "Account" section located in the top right of the MESA dashboard. You will only be charged for the days in which the plan was active. Learn more about changing your plan.

What is a Premium step?

Actions associated with Email by MESA, SMS by MESA, Image by MESA, Weather by MESA and AI by MESA are Premium steps because we incur the cost of these. To protect ourselves from malicious behavior, we limit the number of Premium steps we provide for free. Premium steps are currently only supported on the Flex, Advanced, and Unlimited plans.

What happens if I reach my Premium step limit?

If you reach the Premium step limit, your workflows will continue to run as expected. However, each additional Premium action that runs successfully will incur a charge of $0.01.

For example, suppose you have a workflow with two Premium steps and you have already reached the Premium step limit. If both Premium actions are successful when the workflow is triggered, you will be charged $0.02. However, if only one Premium action is successful and the second Premium action doesn't run, you will only be charged $0.01.
